Pam and I decided that we wanted to design and build a very modest "dream house" where we can live when we are in Canada. Working with our builder Garrison Creek Construction (https://garrison-creek.com/ ) the 1300 square foot bungalow with a full basement is now in the rendering phase. The view above is the back of the bungalow with views of the river and surrounding mountains. The outdoor stairs lead to a visitor's suite where our kids and our grandkids can visit anytime and have their privacy. We have also considered the possibility of using the suite as an occasional rental unit since the town we are moving to has a very nice ski hill and not a lot of high-end accommodation.
View from the street and the "look" we are considering for our rooflines. We are designing a courtyard between our garage and our outdoor room.
Our "outdoor room" is a must in Northern Ontario in the spring and early summer. This room will have retractable screens that will allow us to screen the room in when needed so that we can enjoy the great fresh air of Northern Ontario while we watch TV, or BBQ or just enjoy time beside our outdoor fireplace in the spring, summer and fall months. The screen room will overlook our courtyard and combined will be a great venue for entertaining friends and family.
